An investment team
Operating tools & ongoing developmentGive agents useful work, with a clear place for judgement.
Agent-assisted workflows and institutional knowledge for an anonymous venture capital fund, connecting source material, proposed actions and accountable human decisions.
01 / The business behind the work
An answer is only part of the job.
Investment work develops across documents, conversations and a changing set of decisions. Bringing agents into that environment means thinking about how they pick up context, prepare useful work and leave the next person with a clear account of what happened. The engagement joins those operating questions with the tools that support them.
For this anonymous fund, our work includes programme stewardship, dependency mapping and a document-source graph. The tools sit within a wider operating approach that gives agents a defined role, keeps evidence connected to the work and gives people a clear place to review proposed actions.
02 / The work in practice
Make the next action reviewable.
A programme steward prepares task changes for review. Its supporting checker can surface a missing next action, unclear completion criteria or an undeclared dependency before a proposal is acted on. The working instructions then call for human review, a controlled change and a readback of what was recorded.
The distinction matters: a checker finding and a person’s approval are different things. The workflow keeps them visible, so an apparently tidy task does not silently become an authorised decision.
03 / The work in practice
Understand what a change touches.
A dependency-mapping tool examines recorded relationships between systems and workflows. Its auditor follows typed paths and checks for drift between source material and generated maps. It gives a proposed change a context: which other components might need attention, and whether the map itself needs refreshing.
A separate document-source graph records provenance, coverage and unresolved references. That helps people see which material is available and where there are gaps, so an open question can become a useful research task rather than disappear into the next conversation.
04 / The work in practice
Keep uncertainty in the financing story.
The financing component is at requirements and prototype stage. It explores how company evidence, financing history, review and proposed records can fit together without collapsing different facts into one event. A company financing, a fund’s position movement, a cash settlement and a dated observation carry different meanings.
That work preserves unknowns and conflicting evidence as things to investigate. It develops alongside the operating tools, with a shared emphasis on preparing useful work, making the reasoning inspectable and leaving consequential decisions with the people responsible.
How the pieces connect
Preparation leads to review, then a decision.
- 01
Gather the evidence
Keep source material and unresolved references connected to the task.
- 02
Prepare the work
Agents propose an action and surface missing information or dependencies.
- 03
Review the decision
A person considers the evidence and the authority needed to proceed.
- 04
Carry it forward
Record the decision and context for the next piece of work.
A simplified explanation of the work. This is not an application screen or a depiction of customer records.
Access & accountability
Where control matters.
A checker’s finding and a person’s approval remain separate. The operating approach calls for controlled changes and a readback of what was recorded.
The commercial purpose
Why it is worth building.
Help an investment team carry its knowledge into the next task, with less context to reconstruct and a clearer account of what needs attention.
